Welcome to the Sydney Staff Songsters web site.
The Salvation Army is well respected by the community for its work with the underprivileged, the lost and the unloved. However, The Salvation Army is not only a social welfare institution. It is a lesser-known fact within the community that The Salvation Army is part of the world-wide evangelical Church movement. The phrase "heart to God, hand to man", reflects the Christian motivation that underpins The Salvation Army's desire to show God's love to the community through our social work. Within the Christian Church, music has always been an essential part of worship. In fact, the importance of music in the Christian Church probably has no better example than The Salvation Army. All members of the Sydney Staff Songsters are Salvationists (that is, members of The Salvation Army church) and voluntarily give of their time, talent and resources to be part of the group's exciting ministry. The Sydney Staff Songsters have an integral role in singing music, which uplifts, encourages and brings people from many walks of life closer in their faith. Since it's inception in 1989, the group has developed a tradition of singing high quality music which is both exciting and easy listening. It is now recognised as one of the premiere choral groups within The Salvation Army and has had opportunities to perform in public, concert halls, churches, universities and social institutions all over the world, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Russia and the United Kingdom. Although the Sydney Staff Songsters have toured internationally and performed in some of the world's great halls, the group regularly participates in worship services at various Salvation Army and other denominational churches throughout Australia.
